Re-imagining Joseph Wright's Derby

Ref: C2340599

Joseph Wright of Derby was a versatile painter, but the one thing didn't paint was Derby itself. And yet the people he knew and the places he lived in or frequented were clearly important influences on his art. This workshop will endeavour to build a picture of what Derby was like in eighteenth century, of who did what and where. We'll explore the buildings that have survived and visualise the ones that have disappeared.

Course aim

Through archive material and a walking tour this workshop will build a picture of Derby in the time of Joseph Wright.
