This course looks at making of England from the Norman invasion of 1066 to King Henry II and his 'Devils Brood'. Includes the 'Anarchy' and the Angevin Empire. Where possible we will look at Northamptonshire's part in events that shaped the nation.
Course aim
To introduce learners to the Norman and Angevin Kings of England
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Have an understanding of the chronology and geography of England during the Norman and Angevin periods
- Summarise key events during the period
- Identify key personalities of the period and their contribution to the "making of England"
- Compare and contrast each reign
- Summarise Northamptonshire's involvement in events
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
What else do I need to know?
- Nothing else is needed
- A notebook and pen will be useful
