The Joyce Glen Lecture John of Gaunt: the complicated love life of the most hat

Ref: C2340045

John of Gaunt was one of the most powerful and most hated men in England. Find out about the marriages that made him the wealthiest man in England, the titular king of Portugal and the marriage to Katherine Swynford - his "scandalous duchess." Ambition caused men to distrust him and the revolting peasants to burn down his London home but even his nephew, Richard II, recognised his uncle's loyalty to the throne.
