Exploring Opera

Ref: C2340042

We will watch, on dvd, a selection of operas, designed to give a representative view of the genre. By discussing the various aspects which make up an opera - music, libretto, singers, orchestra, production - you will be able to form a judgment about how opera does what it does. This will help you to watch opera with a greater understanding of how a composer's initial idea ends up as a final production.
