Meet at the Robin Hood Statue, just outside Nottingham Castle then to Standard Hill, Friar Lane, up Maid Marian Way to The Playhouse, Derby Road then through Park Tunnel into The Park, ending up at the Park entrance and back to the Robin Hood Statue (1.5 miles).

Modern Nottingham in the Making continuing our series of heritage talks and walks with local historian Chris Weir

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Describe the making of Nottingham from the Depression years through World War II, the Swinging Sixties to present day.
  • Describe some of the controversies of the new landmarks.
  • State how recent times have treated the City's heritage.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
