This course will improve students’ knowledge and application of colour - by contrasting, mixing and matching colours within various projects. The course will be mixed media and will include artwork using buttons, painting on small canvasses and a larger group piece using paper mosaic.

Course aim

This course teaches students about colour application within their projects.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners
  • This course is for improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Students will improve their knowledge of colour, by mixing paints for a piece of unique art work.
  • Students will mix and match colours within various projects, such as button artwork piece.
  • Students will improve their knowledge of contrasting colours, by creating a seasonal paper mosaic piece.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • There will be a number of tasks appropriate to your course such as written work, creating art or craft, video, photography or small projects. Some of these may be marked to help you progress

What else do I need to know?

  • All materials will be provided
  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
