Day School: Talk and guided tour to Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich

Ref: C2226672

Surrounded by acres of rolling lawns, scenic wooded areas and a delicately created arboretum, the historic Christchurch Mansion is built on the site of the Holy Trinity Priory, founded in the 12th century, which was suppressed by King Henry VIII. Explore the Mansion which home to one of the world’s most important collections of Constable’s work and is now the only place in his own region where paintings by him can be seen. Complementing the works by Constable in Christchurch Mansion’s Wolsey Art Gallery are several by another great Suffolk artist, Thomas Gainsborough (1727 – 1788). Join us to find out more about the history of the mansion and families that have lived there.
