This course will look at the signs and symptoms of ADHD, Autism and Sensory Differences. This will help to identify strategies in which children with these conditions can be supported both with their learning and behaviour more effectively. Also, the course will look at the guidance on assessment and planning for children with SEND.

Course aim

This course will look at conditions such as Autism, ADHD and Sensory Differences and look at ways to support these children with their learning and in managing their behaviour.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Consider strategies that would support a child with special needs with their learning and behaviour.
  • Identify support groups and organisations that will support parents with children with special educational needs.
  • Recognise the process on assessment and planning for children and young people with SEND.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided
