A guided walk through Long Melford, one of the beautiful Suffolk Wool Towns, famous for it’s mile long High Street which is lined with Timber framed buildings. Explore its links to Beatrix Potter, plus the glorious Holy Trinity Church, built with money from the Medieval Wool Trade. Meet at 10.30am outside The Bull (parking along the High Street).

Course aim

A guided walk through the town of Long Melford to explore the beautiful Suffolk Wool town famous for it's mile long High Street.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners
  • Sensible footwear is recommended and appropriate attire for an outside walk - we cannot guarantee the weather!

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Discuss the timber framed buildings along the mile long high street
  • Discuss the towns links to Beatrix Potter
  • Discuss the Holy Trinity Church which was built with money from the Medieval Wool Trade

How will I be taught?

  • The session involves a guided walk around the town and you are encouraged to ask and respond to questions throughout.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • The event is informal and the guide will use question and answer and encourage group and individual participation in discussion throughout.

What else do I need to know?

  • Sensible walking shoes and attire appropriate to weather conditions on the day. You may find a small notepad and pen useful or a camera/phone to take pictures if you would like a record of what you have seen.
