In the C21st it is not always practical to leave a voice mail or text messages, so messages can be left via Facebook (or another app) for someone to pick up later. This course will explore the different social media sites. Good pratice and and uses for each.

All students will be referred onto this course by JCP and all students will be in receipt of a means tested benefit.

Course aim

Communication without talking. Which one? Facebook/Twitter/Whats App Confused? This short session will cover the popular site of Facebook and Twitter How to stay safe and keep your information safe, whilst keeping in touch.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Explain how Twitter and Facebook work
  • Discuss what to look for when up loading images
  • Discover who owns that image/information once send has been hit
  • Evaluate whether to go Public or to stay Private and who can see what
  • Identify when to post and when not to post. That is the question.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

  • Note pad and pen
