The reigns of Henry IV, Henry V and Henry VI played out during s crisis in the Church and the end of the Hundred years War. These, plus developments in art, trade and the r9le of women will be explored.

Course aim

The course will explore the reigns of Henry IV, Henry V and Henry VI, plus aspects of society and culture in the fifteenth century

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Recognise some English kings in the fifteenth century
  • Identify some reasons for dissatisfaction with the Church in the fifteenth century
  • Evaluate the importance of the battle of Agincourt
  • Summarise developments and changes affecting society in the fifteenth century

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • Each session will begin with a summary of what has been covered so far; at the end of each session there will be time for Q & A.

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Become involved as a volunteer for a WEA partner or another organisation
