Philosophy for Now

Ref: C2225615

This ground-breaking course applies the wisdom of the great philosophers to the issues we face in our own time of remarkable and rapid change. We will examine some social issues, such as freedom of speech versus political correctness; gender issues and education in a changing world. We will look at the impact of mobile phones, robots and changes in money matters, as well as the issues raised by widespread surveillance. Each week, we will include at least one famous philosopher such as Aristotle or Descartes and look at how the insights of the past can still be relevant today. There will be plenty of opportunities to discuss ideas and also to refine your own skills of critical analysis.
