Join a friendly class with a professional and supportive tutor to learn and practice ballroom and latin American dancing as a way of exercising. Helping to improve and maintain general health and well-being.
Course aim
To use dance including ballroom and latin rhythms as a form of exercise to improve and maintain general health and well-being both physically and mentally.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
- This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Perform to music all routines learnt with style, stance and technique - recognising the physical benefits to health and well-being
- Perform to music all routines learnt with confidence - recognising the mental benefits to health and well-being
- Recognise and record on SLR two benefits to health and well-being
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
- A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
What else do I need to know?
- Loose layered, comfortable clothes and good supportive footwear.
