Family History - Developing the Jigsaw

Ref: C3674092

This term will review and develop source material from Autumn sessions, incorporating new developments as they occur. We'll also consider good Family History research strategy along the study skills which should be in place. There's also the opportunity to share ideas and experiences with other course members, join optional additional events and be encouraged to produce a project piece. Personal guidance on research and general queries are always available.

Course aim

To continue reviewing sources from the September term, following up project work and improving personal study skills.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • List at least five key study skills that a Family Historian should be aware of and actively follow
  • Demonstrate how these skills have been harnessed in recent family tree construction
  • Report on a review of my usual study methods sharing with the group ideas for improvement where appropriate
  • Contribute two personal experiences in support of, and also two against, the statement "Everything's Online"
  • Produce a project piece on a female person, place or object including additional material specifically researched this term. Presentations can be oral, digital or by any other means

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

What else do I need to know?
