Tackling a different subject each week with plenty of opportunity to experiment with wet into wet techniques and enjoy the spontaneous flowing nature of watercolour. A friendly, creative watercolour class where we will explore a variety of techniques and effects.
Course aim
This water colour course will explore different techniques in a friendly, creative environment with a view to increasing students ability and enjoyment of painting.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Apply paint effectively on to wet paper.
- Demonstrate effective use of tonal values within a picture.
- Create interesting effects within a painting by using salt and cling film.
- Create a pleasing composition by simplifying / altering / cropping.
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- There will be a number of tasks appropriate to your course such as written work, creating art or craft, video, photography or small projects. Some of these may be marked to help you progress
- Informal individual feedback on the painting in progress will be given each week.
What else do I need to know?
- Students will need to bring their own watercolours and brushes. A materials list can be provided.
