This course is for students who would like to develop their historical knowledge of their local and regional area. Come along and join this friendly and informal group to discuss buildings, people and their work from the past.

Course aim

To discuss the Regional and Local History of the surrounding area which will give students an interest to develop their own historical knowledge of their surroundings.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • State 2 interesting and historical facts about the village of Lymm
  • To state 2 advantages about why Burtonwood Air Field was chosen to play such an important role during WW2
  • State 2 important facts about the history of Port Sunlight
  • State two historical facts about Lyme Park

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know?

  • A folder, pen and paper are needed
