The course is for complete beginners in French or for those with a little previous knowledge. You will practise the skills of speaking, reading, listening to and understanding French in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Course aim
To introduce and practise the French language, learning the skills of speaking, reading and listening to French.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
- This course is for beginners
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- introduce myself, provide conversational information about myself and request the same from others.
- Order a drink and a snack in a French cafe or bar.
- Use public transport i.e. buses and trains when in France.
- Request, understand and provide directions to key locations in a French town.
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
- You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
- A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
What else do I need to know?
- You will need a notepad, a ring binder in which to keep your work and a textbook 'Talk French' (BBC Publication - careful not to purchase Talk French 2 unless you wish to buy the two together).
