Make sugar craft decorations to adorn your celebration cakes. Make them look professional. We will work in different mediums - petal paste, sugarpaste, buttercream etc.
Course aim
To improve the cake decoration skills of students who have attended previous courses. All welcome though - if in doubt please ask
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for improvers
- You will need to talk to a member of staff and do a short activity to make sure the course is right for you. For more information and to book an appointment please call 0300 303 3464
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Complete at least one model in sugarpaste
- Complete a flower in petal paste
- Make a square cake and cover and decorate to own design
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
- You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
- You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
- You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
- A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
What else do I need to know?
- Basic cake decorating tools and equipment - if in doubt please ask
Pre-course work, reading and information sources
- No pre reading or pre course work is required
- No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
