This course explores the music and culture of some of the different regions that make up the UK. It will promote not only the music and culture but also explore old traditions, dialects and culinary topics that are typical of some of the regions of the UK. The course will also focus on developing students' skills using the English language to develop their English skills through speaking and listening, writing and actively joining in discussions about some of the regions of the UK.

Course aim
The main aim of this course is to develop the students' knowledge about the music and culture of some of the regions in the United Kingdom.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
- This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Name at least 2 regions that make up the UK
- Identify a particular tradition in 1 region of the UK
- Name traditional dishes that are typical in 2 regions of the UK
- Listen to 2 pieces of music and identify whereabouts in the UK they could originate from
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
- A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
