Introduction to ICT - Write On

An introductory computer course for beginners, designed to develop confidence and skills in using Microsoft office, internet and e-mail. Learners will learn and practice using MS Word, internet and e-mail as well as improve their reading and writing skills. In each session, learners will be given an opportunirty to read, discuss, ask and answer questions on different topics before learning and practicing MS Word skill for the particular session.

Course aim

The course aims to help learners acquire computer skills which are essential for employment

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Key in data into new document and save the new document with a new file name.
  • Create a document with table and column
  • Review document using word count, thesaurus and spelling and grammar
  • Search information on internet using searching engines
  • Send and receive email confidently

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
  • You need to bring pen drive to save your work

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

You can enrol online if you meet all of the following requirements:
