The Plantagenent Kings - England 1100-1399

Ref: C3841283

When the White Ship sank in 1120 the son and heir of Henry I was drowned. Henry's only other legitimate child was his daughter Matilda. Henry wanted her to succeed him but the outcome from 1135-1154 was civil war between Matilda and her cousin Stephen. Eventually though it would be Matilda's son who would inherit the throne as Henry II in 1154 as the first of the Plantagenet kings Thereafter a series of kings called Henry, Richard and Edward ruled England till 1399 Most people wanted to forget the reigns of Stephen and John This course examines the period of these rulers and the changes and developments in England in the High Middle Ages
