Course aim

To improve the cake decoration skills of students who have attended a beginners course

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers
  • You will need to talk to a member of staff and do a short activity to make sure the course is right for you. For more information and to book an appointment please call 0300 303 3464

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Design and make a cake with an anti gravity element.
  • Create a spring posy from petal paste including at least three different flowers
  • Make a cake topper from modelling paste suitable for Easter/spring celebration

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • You will need the basic tools for cake decoration. Some tools may be provided but you may have to share, You will need to provide all materials required. (ie paste, icing etc)

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
