A personal development course designed to encourage and motivate people of working age to gain the essential skills and knowledge needed to support employability. The participant will have the opportunity to; 1. Demonstrate communication skills through active listening, presentation and non-verbal communication 2. Reflect on learning to date Identify and evaluate destination pathways to next steps

Part of broader Financial Capability course, delivered by CAB in Liverpool City Region. Project is led by The Women's Organisation. PIN number only to be given out to CAB Key Workers and BOF Coordinators

Course aim

The course encourages and motivates people of working age to gain employment, the session assists the long term unemployed with activities that aid employment prospects in the future.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • All registrations onto the course are referral via The BBO BOF project at local Citizens Advice.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify 2 types of non verbal communication
  • Identify qualities and skills e.g. determination, imagination
  • List three things that influence your exchanges when you meet someone

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • In addition, over the day of the course, the tutor will give you support and feedback. As many of the tasks are practical it will be easy to see your own progress as well.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • There will be plenty of opportunity for you to discuss progress with other participants and your tutor and the Learning Record will ask you to comment on how far you feel you have progressed

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Progress to a course with another provider
  • You should feel more confident to undertake further learning, either with the WEA or with another provider, and you will be confident to show others what you have learnt.
