Encourage students to bring an image or idea from the past into mind in order to stimulate the memory and build up self-esteem also to build enough confidence to speak out aloud and practise self-expression.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners
  • This course is for students who attend a specific centre only. For more information please call 0300 303 3464
  • For anyone but of greater benefit to those with mobility problems or memory issues.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • To recollect past events.
  • To share memories.
  • To recall and discuss past experiences.
  • To improve self-expression and improve psychological well-being.
  • To acknowledge the ideas, customs and social behaviour of our local society and practise self-expression.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • Demonstration, discussion & debate, presentation through slideshows & questions & answers. No work outside of classroom.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • Verbal feedback at each session and written feedback throughout the course. Assessment to be made through oral discussion, observation and questions & answers.

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
