ESOL Entry 2 writing

This is an accredited ESOL E2 Writing course, aimed at developing students' English writing skills for everyday life, building their confidence in, and encouraging a love of, writing. Through different activities, it will improve students' writing, spelling and grammar skills.

Course aim

To develop and enhance students' English skills in writing at Entry 2 level.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers
  • You will need to talk to a member of staff and do a short activity to make sure the course is right for you. For more information and to book an appointment please call 0300 303 3464

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Compose simple text, selecting appropriate format for the purpose
  • Record information on forms
  • Use punctuation correctly, eg capital letters, full stops and question marks
  • Spell correctly the majority of personal details and familiar common words
  • Construct simple and compound sentences, using common conjunctions to connect two clauses

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • There will be a number of tasks appropriate to your course such as written work, creating art or craft, video, photography or small projects. Some of these may be marked to help you progress

What else do I need to know?

  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
  • pen, pencil, file, notebook, dictionary

  • are paying the standard fee or are on any of the qualifying benefits
