Creative Techniques - Fashion and Design

This course will teach you vital creative and practical skills, to help you create items of clothing to be used as part of a portfolio, should you wish to pursue a successful career within the fashion industry.

Course aim

To recycle an old clothes into new design and learn new skill and build up confidence learners bring old clothes and turn into new design.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identity and demonstrate Health and Safety requirements when undertaking an activity
  • Research fashion and clothing styles and tips using 2 sources.
  • Visit the local library and market by walking as part of health and wellbeing.
  • Demonstrate the importance of planning for an activity and costing for the completed item
  • Communicate ideas for portfolio with tutor and other

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • Scissor, brown paper, thread, needle, pins, pencil, ruler, notebook, file, fabric, cotton material
