This course introduces students to story sacks.. Learners will know about the purpose and characteristics of a story sack. They will also learn about interacting with their children to help their development and it will encourage community activity as the sack will be given to the centre for other families to use and enjoy. After completing the course, the students will donate it to the school.

Course aim

This course will help parents to develop their skills in interacting with their children and they will be making a story sack that they can enjoy with their children. This course will also serve to further embed English and numeracy skills.

Who is the course for?

- No skills or experience needed - This course is for beginners - This course is suitable for beginners and improvers - This course is for people with little spoken English

What topics will this course cover

- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

How will I know I'm making progress?

- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion - You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor - There will be a number of tasks appropriate to your course such as written work, creating art or craft, video, photography or small projects. Some of these may be marked to help you progress

- Nothing else is needed

- No pre reading or pre course work is required
