This course will attempt to unearth works of art which are kept in museums and galleries in the UK, discuss the work in depth and where they can be viewed.

Course aim

To look at and discuss lesser known artworks from any period which can be found in museums and galleries in the UK.

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • 1. Appreciate the benefits of some lesser known individual artworks and less frequently visited museums and galleries in the UK.
  • Learn new information about the art and artists who created the artworks discussed.
  • Learn about the cultures of other countries, and the context in which artworks were made.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • Making notes at the sessions is optional and up to the individual.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
