What do we mean when we say "vulnerable adult" or "adult at risk". Who in our community is vulnerable, who is responsible for them and how can we protect them from harm? This workshop will also explain the current safeguarding processes for the area Surrey.

Course aim
The course aims to develop understanding what the terms "Vulnerable adult" or "Adult at Risk" mean and to understand the responsibilities that voluntary and community organisations have towards these individuals.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Explain what is meant by the term “Adult at Risk".
- Describe what is meant by abuse and name different types of abuse.
- Give examples of factors that protect vulnerable adults from harm.
- Explain how to raise a safeguarding concern.
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

- Nothing else is needed
