In this 3 hour session we will discuss how foods impact the brain and which foods can help to enhance mood and well being.

Course aim

The aim of this workshop, taught by a qualified nutritionist, is to give practical advice and tips on foods to eat to enhance mood and those to avoid, alongside examples of simple meal ideas.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify those foods and additives which have a negative effect on brain activity
  • Understand how gut microbes influence our brain and how to enhance our beneficial gut bacteria.
  • Understand how we eat and what we eat influences blood sugar levels and how to control this for optimal mood and well being.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
