Seated Exercise for Body and Mind

Students will perform a range of seated exercises to music in a fun and safe environment. These include upper and lower body exercises, warm ups and cool downs, strengthening and circulation exercises and using weights. Sessions will also include 'brain games' to include puzzles, quizzes and music activities to aid memory, focus and attention.

Course aim

This course will benefit individuals with limited mobility through guided exercise to music and 'brain games'.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Perform at least 3 exercises using the upper body
  • Perform at least 3 exercises using the lower body
  • Use a resistance band to perform at least 3 exercises
  • Use a ball to perform at least 2 exercises
  • Use weights to perform at least 2 exercises

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

  • Nothing else is needed
