Seated Exercise for Body and Mind

This course will enable participants to undertake a range of seated exercises under instruction. These include strengthening muscles, using weights, warm up and cool downs and circulation exercises. Participants will use resistance bands and balls and exercise to music in a fun and safe environment. The course also includes puzzles, games and quizzes to help with memory, attention and focus.

Course aim

This course will benefit those with limited mobility who want to perform seated exercises for movement and fitness in a safe environment.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • You will need to complete medical information on the first day to ensure there is no reason why you can't join the class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Perform a range of upper body exercises
  • Perform a range of lower body exercises
  • Exercise using a resistance band
  • Use a ball to exercise
  • Use weights to exercise

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
