The fussy eaters course aims to break down the barriers and fears that revolve around meal times. Each session will provide you with new ideas on how to make meals and snacks that will appeal to a range of children as well as families. We will cover a range of topics such as how to make cooking and meal times less stressful, what makes a fussy eater, how to involve kids in the kitchen, shopping and ingredients and several new recipes. The aim is to break down bad habits and encourage new and positive thoughts on eating well and why it is so important to eat balanced diet.

Course aim

The aim of this course is to provide you with top tips on how to tackle fussy eaters. You will learn about how to create new and enjoyable ways to make simple nutritious food and how to make meal times fun and enjoyable for all the family.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Make a sandwich/wrap with my child from a range of healthy ingredients provided
  • Name 5 fruits and vegetables
  • Follow instructions and make a recipe from scratch
  • Name the basic principles of food hygiene
  • Sit down to eat the same meal as a family at least once a week

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided
  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
