Ballet for Fitness and Fun

Ballet for Fitness and Fun is a class that will improve Posture, Flexibility, Strength and Muscle tone. Balance and co-ordination will also be worked on. This is all achieved by various exercises at the Ballet Barre and in the centre. Various types of music is used to promote musicality and timing.

This course is run by the WEA, working in partnership with East Surrey College delivering Adult Learning across the East Surrey area. This is a fee paying course. If you are in receipt of an income related benefit you may be entitled to free tuition.

Course aim

To provide a Ballet class in a safe and fun environment which is aimed for all levels of abilities

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners
  • This course is for improvers
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • See an improvement in Posture
  • Have an understanding of various Ballet terms
  • To be able to execute a variety of Ballet steps
  • Dance a small routine of a number of steps
  • See an improvement in flexibility .

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • A written report can be given if requested

What else do I need to know?

  • Suitable attire is advised, such as tights and leotard or leggings and t-shirt . Ballet shoes are also advised or flexible soft sole shoes. Water
