Buying and Selling Online

This course will enable participants to use the internet independently for the purposes of online purchasing and sales. They will be able to set up online shopping accounts, recognise the secure websites, understand how PayPal works, browse items, make purchases for goods and services online, arrange to collect items, check stock availability, arrange for goods to be delivered and much more. Participants will also use a number of websites to sell items and these will include auction websites such as eBay as well as other secure websites. Those attending this course will be confident with online buying and selling through a number of different websites.

Course aim

This course will enable participants to buy and sell goods and services online safely and securely and with confidence.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Recognise a secure website
  • Set up an online account
  • Use at least three websites to browse items for purchase
  • Understand the process of selling goods through at least two websites
  • Identify the bidding process to purchase on eBay

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • There will be a number of tasks appropriate to your course such as written work, creating art or craft, video, photography or small projects. Some of these may be marked to help you progress

  • Nothing else is needed

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Progress to a course with another provider

Enrolment Conditions

You can enrol online if you meet all of the following requirements:

  • are paying the standard fee or are on any of the qualifying benefits
  • are paying with a credit/debit card or are not paying a fee because of a qualifying benefit
  • have a valid email address
  • have been resident in the UK, EU or EEA for the last 3 years
  • are aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2017
  • have read and accept the standard terms and conditions
