Ballet Body Conditioning

Helps to improve posture, body tone and strength, based on professional Ballet dancers' barre workout, it is a mix of stretch, Pilates, yoga and more. Non aerobic, this is the class to really call on your muscles to respond- and they do.

This course is run by the WEA, working in partnership with East Surrey College delivering Adult Learning across the East Surrey area. This is a fee paying course. If you are in receipt of an income related benefit you may be entitled to free tuition. You will need to provide evidence of your benefit status at the first session.

Course aim

To promote Ballet-based exercise as an activity for adults to develop fitness and flexibility.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Improve muscle tone and strength.
  • Improve core strength and balance
  • Improve flexibility
  • Improve posture
  • Increase feeling of well being.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • Feedback and positive corrections will be given throughout the class.

What else do I need to know?

  • Comfortable clothing that you can move in easily and either ballet shoes or a soft pair of shoes.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

What can I do next?

  • Ballet is the basis of many dance styles and so could lead to trying many other dance classes.
