Most people lack the confidence to experiment with their pictures and are far too modest about their achievements. Become more active in your choice of imagery and combine new ideas with new techniques. Beginners will be fully supported.

Course aim

This course will help people improve the technical side of painting using watercolours. Experienced students will also enjoy revisiting techniques.

Who is the course for?

- This course is suitable for beginners and improvers - Anyone who wishes to improve their painting or just to work with others in a stimulating encouraging atmosphere.

What topics will this course cover

- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

How will I know I'm making progress?

- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor - You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning - You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions - A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

- It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.) - watercolour set, watercolour paper, A3 or A4 . Round watercolour brushes size. 6, 8 and 4. 2B Pencil, rubber and sharpener.

Reading and information sources

- No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful - Try to get information on the art of Samuel Palmer, Turner and John Piper

What could the course lead to?
