Seated Yoga

Yoga improves co-ordination, strength and flexibility by moving every part of the body. It helps us move and breathe better, concentrate and relax. Classes are varied and fun and include singing with actions. Students sit on chairs, with the option of standing where appropriate.

Course aim

To improve body awareness, strength and flexibility and to breathe more deeply. To increase self-confidence and the ability to concentrate and relax

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners
  • This course is for improvers
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • To demonstrate and practice a range of stretches and postures according to my own ability
  • Take part in breathing exercises and breathe a little better
  • Sit quietly for guided relaxation for 15 mins
  • Have more confidence dealing with my own aches and pains

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

  • Nothing else is needed
