Day School: Getting the Most from Your Tablet

This course provides an introduction in the use of tablets (iPads and Android) for email, internet access and entertainment in a relaxed, friendly environment. Every student is catered for individually and the course content will be customised to accommodate the students’ requirements.

Course aim

To provide an introduction to the setting up, managing and using an iPad, Windows or android tablet Topics will be tailored to take account of the students' own interests.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Manage some of the Settings on my tablet
  • Take and share photos using email and cloud storage
  • Download apps from the store
  • Use SKYPE, FaceTime to communicate
  • Basic use of Facebook, Whatsapp and/or Instagram

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • Please bring your own iPad or Windows or Android tablet. You will need to know your account passwords.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Become involved as a volunteer for a WEA partner or another organisation

  • are paying the standard fee or are on any of the qualifying benefits
