Day School - The Magical World of Cinema: What Makes A Great Film Great

Ref: C3741461

In this friendly and informal workshop, we’ll start with examples of what we consider to be great films, and then look at some of the common characteristics they share. As a way of appreciating these characteristics, we’ll examine them in action in two acknowledged classics - Citizen Kane & Casablanca. Both films came out of Hollywood at the same time and from the same studio system, and yet are extraordinarily different. Discussing and reflecting on these classics will help us better understand the cinematic contributions (intended, accidental or inspired) that go into creating any great film: script, direction, editing, acting, cinematography, and that most unpredictable of ingredients – magic.
