Day School - Landscapes in Watercolour

The morning will be spent looking at techniques through simple exercises; working from photographs to create a full painting in the afternoon .The workshop will be suitable for those new to watercolour as well as those with more experience. Basic materials and equipment provided. Looking at: • Choosing paper • Simple colour theory • Colour mixing • Using brushes and other tools for textures • Wet on wet painting • Simple resists • Making a completed painting from photographs

Course aim

Looking at watercolour techniques and how to apply them to a landscape painting .

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify different types of watercolour paper
  • Use a colour wheel to identify harmonious and complimentary colours
  • Use a resist
  • Use wet on wet techniques to blend colour .

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • Basic materials and equipment will be provided . Please wear an apron or old clothes .
