This course is intended to encourage exploration, reflection and discussion of this period and specifically how it has shaped the modern world..

Course aim

To explore various aspects of inter war Britain using contemporary and modern sources and explore how changes in Britain in this period echo life today.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Describe the conditions which existed in Britain in 1919 Describe the conditions which existed in Britain 1919
  • Have an initial understanding of the rise of extremism in the period and the events leading up to the battle of Cable street
  • Describe how ideas from the period were portrayed in the media at the time

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
