Day School: Caravaggio - Master of Light and Dark

Ref: C3741204

In four sections this day school will introduce the work of Michelangelo da Merisi da Caravaggio to students. From his early years in Milan, to his rise to fame in the hot bed of counter reformation Rome, to his escape from that city as a possible murderer, to his untimely early death, this course will investigate his extraordinary ability to bring religious and classical themes to life. His methods and techniques will be investigated, notably his ability to create drama and theatre through the treatment of light and shade, and his use of every day characters and themes will be discussed in detail.
