Students will be encouraged to explore a range of genres and styles in which they might develop their own writing skills. Students will be encouraged to edit and polish their work in the light of peer and tutor feedback. The class will create a safe supportive environment in which students feel comfortable about presenting their work.

Course aim

The course aims to introduce students to a range of strategies to help them get into the flow, tap into inspiration and build skills in both prose and poetry.

What topics will this course cover

- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning - You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

1. Plan and create a number of original pieces of writing. 2. Present work in progress or completed writing to the class. 3. Give supportive and encouraging feedback to other members of the class.

How will I know I'm making progress?

- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning - You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

- Nothing else is needed
