A Beginners Guide to Sugarcraft

I will give full demonstrations and share with you my handy hints and tips with you. Under my close guidance, you will receive all the help you need create delicious treats at home for all the family to enjoy. The course will include an introduction to sugar craft and the tools and products you will require to create your work, we will then move on to a step-by-step demonstration on how to make a sugar and bow. Giving you the chance to create some lovely treats to take home. You will be decorating 6 of your homemade cupcakes, using some off the skills learnt and many more skills, including hand piping. You will explore model making with an animal of your choice. Perfect for use on celebration cakes. You will need to supply some equipment please check below.

Course aim

This class is a full demonstration step-by step format and therefore ideal for beginners to sugar craft wo want to refine their skills.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • You will know how to handle and work with fondant/Icing
  • You will know how to create a sugar rose
  • You will know how to create a sugar bow
  • You will have learnt a selection of hand piping techniques
  • You will know how to create an animal model our of fondant

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • 1 x small silicon rolling pin,1x Decorating Tool set,1 x small kitchen knife, 1 kg of fondant icing, 1x large piping bag and nozzle of your choice, 1 x Set of Round cookie cutters, A selection of sugar flair colour gels all available at Home Bargains
