This course will help you build the confidence to navigate life with regard and respect for yourself, not in the "aren't I wonderful way", but in a way, that helps you feel safe, secure and able to make choices that are good for you, and good for your family and friends. Regularly practising proven techniques introduced on this course will increase your own level of self-esteem as well as attaining a sense of happiness, wellbeing and resilience.

Course aim

A self-help development course that introduces Learners to a variety of techniques and steps using positive ideas and excercises

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • To recognise how emotions affect moods and how I can accept negative emotions but have the ablility to raise or change them to benefit my wellbeing
  • To identify how thoughts and feelings affect me physically and to discover the "mind and body connection"
  • To make choices from the self-help techniques used on the course, practice those that suit me and in time recognise this will make me feel happier and raise my confidence
  • To listen to others, be sympathetic, but also learn how to put my opinions accross in a respectful way
  • To have fun throught, laughter, music and dance

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • You will be provided with a Journal to make notes

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
