An ICT course designed to build confidence working with Microsoft Office Applications enabling students to work independently and within a group. Students will be able to work at their own pace and progress to new modules and higher levels within this class with individual support.
Course aim
To promote Social Purpose issues whilst using the computer. To learn new ICT skills and build on existing knowledge using Microsoft Office. To provide the student with transferable ICT skills.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- A course designed for both beginners and those that want to update or build on existing knowledge. No prior experience needed.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Complete practical exercises to create Microsft Office documents
- Enter and Edit data with accuracy
- Format documents layouts
- Print hard copies for portfolio to provide evidence of learning and progression
- Increase awareness of social issues through text content of some practical exercises
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
What else do I need to know?
- You will need to provide your own A4 folder to keep all course paperwork and a pen. The workpacks and other course materials will be provided by your tutor.

- Many students completing this course have gained employment by building confidence working within a group as well as learning new skills using the computer.
