Stress comes from a variety of sources, including those applicable to specific situations or social groups. It may relate to issues affecting family, employment or unemployment, health, finance, housing & homelessness, entitlements & benefits, refugees & asylum seekers etc. This course will seek to promote ideas to improve mood & enjoyment of activities, or to seek appropriate information, advice or guidance which have the effect of relieving stressful situations.

This course is targeted at refugees living within the Bridlington area or other parts of East Yorkshire.
Course aim
To introduce activities, ideas & strategies for stress management in the context of the needs & issues relating to a closed group.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
- This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
- This course is for people with little spoken English

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Participate in activities designed to have a positive effect on health & wellbeing.
- Identify activities that may relieve stress.
- Participate in group discussion & Q&A about a variety of coping strategies to overcome stress & anxiety in everyday situations.
- Consider strategies to manage & escape stress & anxiety.
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
- You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
- There will be a number of tasks appropriate to your course such as written work, creating art or craft, video, photography or small projects. Some of these may be marked to help you progress
