Ever wanted to see history in a different way, visit haunted buildings, see places and things like no other city? As you walk debate with your own reasoning why ghosts of the past provide you with new information. This course will reveal more mysteries and odd goings on, even the ghosts that haunt the town haunt each other. You will learn about the relevant parts of Hull’s gruesome past whilst also learning some new skills in communication by recalling and sharing your own information. Your levels of comprehension will boost as you hear about the importance of Hull and how today’s ghosts from the past interact with you. You’ll even compare yesterday’s times with today’s and see with your own eyes the results why joining in the activities can make you rethink things. Being mindful these are dark places so be warned if the ghosts like you they may get attached!

Course aim

These walk and talks, are aimed at talking you on a stress-free amble around the old town of Hull. Learning some peculiar history and joining in some strange activities as you meander amongst the historic buildings.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Learn some history of Hull's old town
  • Join in group activities
  • Learn new skills in communication

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
