Join a friendly class with a friendly and supportive tutor to learn and practice ballroom and latin american dancing as a way of exercising helping to improve and maintain general health and well-being. No partner required.

Course aim

To use dance including ballroom and latin american rhythms as a form of exercise to improve and maintain general health and well-being both physically and mentally.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Perform to music all routines learnt with style,stance and technique to gain maximum health benefit.
  • Recognise how dancing can help to improve the physical and mental well-being including posture,stamina and memory.
  • Recognise and perform the improvements in a routine which can increase the benefit to health and well-being
  • Recognise and record on ILP two benefits to health and well-being which have improved during the course.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know?

  • Loose layered clothing and good supportive footwear

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
